					<description>I was brought this article this afternoon as someone who works with melamine and a food chemist.  The media was very selective about the information it published, and sadly that is continuing to be the case in published opinions worldwide.

Melamine and pet food aside, food laws are NOT 100 years old.  The basis for them was over 100 years ago, but major updates have been issued on 4 separate occasions as well as a Code of Federal Regulations chapter that has new issuances regularly.  Good points made, but as with everything, people need to read beyond sensationalized statements and hype.</description>
